Revolution DeVa: Square Wave Ballasts Built for Serious Growers

For years, the horticultural lighting industry has been flooded with carbon-copy HPS and Metal Halide fixtures which offer little to no benefit over eachother when compared apples to apples. Those days are behind us, and the Revolution DeVa is the answer to large scale and small scale horticultural lighting.

Aerospace Engineer Greg Richter designed the DeVa with performance, power, and longevity at the forefront. Boasting the highest quality manufactured materials, with all parts made in house, the DeVa is the first FCC Compliant Square wave ballast available for growers.

Let’s go over some of what makes this light so special.

1. Square Wave Ballasts

  • Maximum photoperiods are longer and more sustained, resulting in a more efficient light. When growing with many lights, this can make a huge difference in cost.
  • DeVa’s low frequency 140Hz operation means less acoustic interference which can be common in higher frequency ballasts.
  • More resonance means more flickering and less consistent PPFD (Or the photon density that arrives at the plant from the light).

2. Ushio Pro Plus Bulbs
  • The DeVa takes the Ushio Pro Plus DE 1000W HPS Bulb, which boasts a whopping 2100 mmol/s PAR rating, with a operational lifetime rating of 10,000 Hours.
  • The Ushio’s efficient yet high output of red spectrum promotes plant vigor and primary growth, while the additional blue spectrum helps to increase yields and promotes the development of secondary metabolites. Find out more about the USHIO Pro Plus HERE.

3. Minimal EMI and Heat

  • Cooling costs when growing in a large scale indoor environment can be quite overbearing, but not with the DeVa. The lights generate approximately 3600 BTU/H for 10 light systems, or one third of a Refrigeration ton. This means that for a 3 ton AC unit, you can cool nearly one hundred DeVa Lights.
  • Additionally, DeVa systems produce the lowest EMI of any light on the market, and are the first FCC Approved square wave ballast. No more ‘going dark’ when you flip on the lights, as the DeVa system is rated to prevent interference with WiFi, Cable, and other electronic systems.

4. Revolution micro Controller

  • Made in House for the DeVa system, the Revolution Micro controller is the way you control up to 512 lights at one time, from a single controller. This is a fantastic solution for multi room or multi facility grows, as grows and rooms can be individually hooked up and controlled from a single box (2 rooms max).
  • Additionally, power can be adjusted from 600 to 1150 W depending on user preference.
  • The fully digital controller has been specially designed to be non-susceptible to hacks or other interference from outside sources, ensuring a tamper-proof lighting schedule. This is a fantastic solution for multi room or multi facility grows, as grows and rooms can be individually hooked up and controlled from a single box (2 rooms max).

Besides helping to shade people on a hot day, this thick foliage also helps the neem tree work as an excellent carbon sequestration source. Carbon sequestration can be described as the process of removing carbon from the atmosphere and putting it into long-term storage in a “reservoir”. The Neem tree is truly a gift that keeps on giving to the people and environment around it.

When Left Coast Wholesale teamed up with EcoStadt Technologies to carry their ECOWORKS EC 4-in-1 and ECOMAX Neem Kernel Fertilizer, we were ecstatic when we found out that not only are they wonderful, organic products that worked – but that their creation  helps to support a rural economy by providing full-time jobs to individuals in an area where work is scarce.
